Sustainability - Eco-Policy
At Balloons le Grá, we believe celebrations can be beautiful and responsible. We’re committed to making more environmentally conscious choices across our products and practices, while always being honest about what balloons are — and how they should be used and disposed of properly.
Biodegradable Latex Balloons
Our latex balloons are made from natural rubber latex, responsibly sourced from Rainforest Alliance Certified and Forest Stewardship Council (FSC) plantations. Latex is harvested without harming the tree, allowing it to continue producing for decades.
Because natural latex is plant-based, it biodegrades over time at a rate similar to other natural materials, such as leaves. Once deflated, latex balloons can be disposed of in normal waste streams.
Bubble Balloons & Helium Use
We are mindful that helium is a finite natural resource. While helium is essential in many medical and scientific applications, the party industry uses only a very small percentage overall.
At Balloons le Grá, we use balloon-grade helium only, avoiding higher-grade helium that is required for critical medical use. We also encourage thoughtful use of helium balloons and offer many air-filled alternatives where possible.
Foil Balloons & Recycling
Foil balloons are not biodegradable, which is why we actively support recycling initiatives.
We operate a return-to-recycle programme in partnership with TerraCycle. Customers can return used foil balloons to us, where they are collected, sorted, and transformed into reusable raw materials — keeping them out of landfill and incineration.
Our Ribbons & Packaging
Our satin and grosgrain ribbons are made from 100% recycled rPET yarn, produced from recycled plastic bottles collected across Europe. These bottles are processed into fibres and spun into high-quality recycled yarn.
- Ribbon reels are made from recycled plastic and are fully recyclable
- Protective cellophane is compostable
- We continually review suppliers to reduce unnecessary packaging
Our Stance on Balloon Releases
We do not support balloon releases.
Releasing balloons into the environment causes unnecessary harm to wildlife and ecosystems. Instead, we encourage a simple approach:
Pin it. Enjoy it. Then bin it responsibly.
